Our Location
The Asia & Americas Regional hub encompasses all the partnerships, programmes and projects in Asia, South and Central America, and the Middle East.
Reaching over 19 countries, CBM in Asia and America have programmatic work in Honduras, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jordan, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri Lanka and Vietnam; As well as additional projects in Lebanon, Egypt, Bolivia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Philippines and Myanmar.
Where and how does CBM in A&A works?
Programming in Asia & the Americas takes a rights-based approach to disability and aims to work with leading experts in disability inclusion, inclusive education, disability mainstreaming, advocacy, community-based inclusive development, community mental health, accessibility, and disaster risk reduction.
Our partnerships to reach our strategic goal
In 2020, 2,267,618 people received services in core activities from CBM partners in Asia and the Americas. CBM partners with government and non-government organisations and Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs) to develop and implement programmes and projects based on the country context. These include low vision medical eye work, ear care, assistive devices development, mobility prosthetics and orthotics, community-based rehabilitation and inclusive development, disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction, community mental health, parent mobilisation, and DPO strengthening.
Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities
CBM networks with government agencies and development organisations to address disability as a cross-cutting issue in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), where programmatic countries have signed and ratified the CRPD.
